10-13.11.2025 SAHK hosts Asian Ski Nations Conference in Hong Kong and Shenzhen, China

SAHK hosted its inaugural conference ‘Winter Sports Development Opportunities for fellow Asian Ski Nations', between the 10th - 13th November 2025. The conference, supported by FIS (International Ski Federation), served as an opportunity for Asian ski nations to gather and share their thoughts about the current state of affairs, as well as, opportunities for further growth and development regarding winter sports in the Asian region. SAHK welcomed representatives from over 10 nations such as, South Korea, Japan, Thailand, Uzbekistan, Nepal, India, Mongolia and others.

SAHK Chairman Mr Edmond Yue alongside current ASF (Asian Ski Federation) President Mr Aki Murasato, opened the Hong Kong session of the conference, held at Regal Airport Hotel, with speeches highlighting the importance of Asia in the further development in global snowsports, while encouraging fellow nations to continue to work together to provide opportunities for athletes and enthusiasts alike to enjoy winter.
That was then followed up with sessions hosted by FIS Director for Development Programmes, Mr Dimitrije Lazarovski and FIS Membership Manager, Ms Jelena Dojcinovic, providing opportunities for the attending Asian ski nations to share their current opportunities and challenges uniquely facing small to medium ski nations. This open dialogue, facilitated by SAHK, was well received as it offered an opportunity for Asia to speak directly to FIS in the hopes of meaningful collaboration to develop the region further.
The afternoon session included presentations by various indoor ski resort operators, notably BONSKI who currently operate the largest indoor ski resort (Qian Hai Snow World in Shenzhen), to try and connect our fellow Asian ski nations with opportunities more accessible during the pre/post-season months. The meeting then ended with a surprise video attendance of FIS President, Mr Johan Eliasch who addressed attending nations with great enthusiasm, speaking about Asia as the future of winter sports, with the greatest potential for further development. The Hong Kong conference then ended with a cantonese style dinner held at the hotel, before the delegations travelled to Shenzhen for another day of activities.
The second day of the conference commenced in Shenzhen, China with a tour of the new Qian Hai Snow World, which has officially been anointed the largest indoor ski resort in the world. Following the tour, there was a conference ceremony which was attended by various high profile guests from the China Ski Association, BONSKI, ‘The Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports Bureau of Shenzhen’, the Ski Association of Shenzhen, the Greater Bay Area Sports Department and others. The supportive turnout highlights the interest, collaboration and enthusiasm from the sports community in the greater bay area and the wider Chinese Mainland in regards to further providing opportunities towards developing Asia as a hub for winter sports. The event started with addresses from FIS Mr Dimitrije Lazarovski, SAHK Chairman Mr Edmond Yue, and Vice President of BONSKI Mr Yi Li.
A plaque presentation ceremony was then held to celebrate future collaborations between FIS and BONSKI including accreditation of various BONSKI locations, as well as the celebration of BONSKI to be officially accredited as an Official FIS Event Partner. A signing ceremony was also held to celebrate the upcoming World Snow Day to be held early 2026 which aims to celebrate winter and bring young people to the snow. Finally, the ceremony ended with the official launch of the 1st Asian Indoor Alpine Ski Championships 2026 to be held in Shenzhen, organised by Ski Association of Hong Kong, China  and BONSKI. The day then continued with an exploratory city tour of Shenzhen for our fellow Asian ski nation delegates, some of whom, was their first visit to the city. The day then ended with a chinese banquet hosted at Hilton Hotel Shenzhen, with an opening address by General Manager of Huafa Snow BONSKI Mr. Qu Hongtao.
