Joint Seminar organized by Ski Association of Hong Kong and Wing On Travel
香港滑雪總會主及永安旅遊合辦滑雪講座
On Oct. 31, 2009, Ski Association of Hong Kong and Wing On Travel held a joint seminar on skiing . Notable guests include Mr. Helge Weiner-Trapness, Mr. Ben Lu, Dr. Michael Hsin and Dr. Francis Lau to be our guest speaker for that evening ; and all those HKTA Members and Coaches present that evening were certainly captivated throughout and benefited tremendously from our guest speakers insights.
Mr. Helge Weiner-Trapness was a competitive skier and he started skiing since he was 2. Mr. Trapness was giving out tips to beginner and reminded the importance of going to ski school instead of learn by yourself. He also introduced different ski areas and resorts for all levels of players.
Mr. Ben Lu is a Heli-ski activist and he started to love Heli-skiing once he started in Vancouver.
He tried to explain to our skiiers that heliskiers are seeking specific, pleasurable skiing conditions that are hard to replicate in the highly manipulated terrain of ski resorts: particularly powder snow, but also long descents, natural terrain contours and features.
Dr. Michael Hsin talks about the benefit of skiing. He stressed the importance of improving your cardiovascular system and how skiing can tone participants muscle.
Dr. Francis Lau discussed the proper ways to avoid common skiing injuries, which are so frequently overlooked by amateurs as well as professionals. Dr. Lau reminded the audience the importance of pre- and post-match stretching, which the parents found to be extremely useful and practical to both their kids and themselves.
The overall response has been positive as immediate feedback from all the guests who attended the seminar indicated the topics discussed by our guests were indeed captivating, as well as educational and informative, and suggested additional seminars of this nature be made available in the near future also.
